Green Fishing Light FAQ

Can Green Fishing Lights be used on Fresh and/or Salt Water?

A: Yes, our underwater fishing lights can be used in any type of water. Our lights have been installed on many houses and commercial establishments all over waterways attached to the intercoastal waterway, as well as on many lakes and ponds, and even rivers everywhere in the United States.

How do you prevent Barnacle Growth in salt water, and how do you prevent algae growth in fresh water?

A: Both of these growths are controlled by always leaving the underwater lights plugged in and power to them. The bulbs we use are HID bulbs, and when they are on produce quite a bit of heat. This heat prevents any foreign body from adhering to the glass.

If my light is off for a few weeks or a period of time, how can I clean the bulb?

A: Simply pull the light up, and use a razor blade to scrape barnacles or algae from bulb.

How deep of water can the lights be put in?

A: The lights can really go in any depth of water. We recommend having them at a depth where passing boats will not run the risk of having propellers and or keels from hitting them. Lights can be put closer to the surface, but we recommend putting a stick or marker to designate that there are lights below, or this is also acceptable if there is low boat traffic or in an area where boats do not typically go.

What is the ideal depth for lights.

A: In normal depth conditions, We recommend 6-10 feet below the waterline. This provides a nice cone of light and also keeps it well out of the way from passing boats.

Can I put my light in 2 or 3 feet of water?

A: The bulb functions fine at any depth of water, it even functions fine out of the water. Just remember to keep in mind where it is and mark it for other people not to break it if installed in shallow water.

What do we do if a bulb breaks?

A: We have a two part system. So if your bulb breaks, your GFCI gets tripped and power does not go to the light anymore. Then you just need to order another bulb, line and conduit replacement system. Once you have this you unhook the old light and hook in the new one.
